Volunteer Opportunities- How can you help?

Volunteer Picture: The patient services offered by Good Neighbor Health Clinic are made possible thanks to the contributions of hundreds of volunteers.  These volunteers can proudly say they help serve over a thousand patients each year through the medical and dental clinic.

There are opportunities for many types of licensed health care professionals including:  physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists, dental hygiene, dental assistants, physical therapists, nutritionists, nurses, acupuncturists, massage therapists, mental health counselors.

Community volunteers with NO medical training are also welcome to volunteer in a wide range of interesting clinic support roles.

Regular Clinic Volunteer Teams - Volunteers on a clinic team commit to a specific job assignment and time period.  Ideally each member of the clinic team makes a commitment of at least 4 hours per month.

Dental Clinic Team:  Dentist and/or Dental Hygienist, Dental Assistant, Receptionist.

Medical Clinic Team: Provider (examples: physician, nurse practitioner, mental health counselor, physical therapist), Nurse; Clinic Manager (logistics & support); Admissions (greeting patients, scheduling, patient records)

Special Projects - Volunteer tasks and time commitments vary. Examples include:  Spring Clean-up Day (4 hours once a year), patient survey (2 hours every three months),  Community outreach events (3 hours once a month).

Frequently Asked Questions:

What about malpractice insurance? Licensed health care professionals would be covered by malpractice insurance provided to the Good Neighbor Health Clinic through a special federal program for free clinics.

Would I need a Vermont license?  To practice at the White River location, volunteer health care professionals are required to have a Vermont license.  Vermont offers a special pro bono license option for volunteers that would waive the licensing fee and we can provide more information about that procedure.  We do have two New Hampshire satellite medical clinics where NH licensed physicians or nurses may practice.

Can you or your organization help us fulfill the GNHC Wish List?  We realize that you are very busy people and time is not always the most appropriate donation.  Please consider donating supplies that are needed on a monthly basis at Good Neighbor!  Call the clinic for more GNHC Wish List details.  Thanks!
